About me
My path to yoga began in 2001, in Phra Ubosot, the meditation hall of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand.
As I entered the hall, I was enveloped in an enormous sense of calm. I sat down, someone spoke to me, the bottom dropped out of calmness itself.
Set on a course, I stumbled along, until I found how mediation and yoga can help to rediscover our connection with calmness, contentment and compassion.
Developing awareness of what is happening in the mind, in the body and in the world.
Moving from ideas of the past or future to a full sense what can be experienced in the now.
Inspired by the influence of my practise upon my own life, I became drawn to share the teachings of yoga and meditation with others.
Perhaps there is an idea that the struggles of us modern people, in this modern world, might come from how we relate to our perceptions of the world. Yoga shares an understanding that interconnectedness, interdependence of all things, can be discovered through attention on the everyday movements of heart, mind, body and other.
My teaching practice is supported by my studies at the Devon School of Yoga, where I qualified from their amazing two-year (500 hour) Teacher Training programme, after completing their Foundation course. I studied Trauma Sensitive Yoga, with Trauma Therapy Manchester, and Family Yoga with Children's Yoga Tree. I am also trained in Yoga Nidrā and read, write and sound ancient Sanskrit, for fun.
